Gustav putting Katrina’s lesson to the test

Well, its looking more and more like Gustav is going to be the real deal. Right now, forecasters are saying Gustav will be a Category 3 hurricane when it makes landfall… in Louisiana.
Gustav has already killed 51 people in Haiti and 8 in the Dominican Republic, and I believe that it has only briefly achieved hurricane status. Right now it’s only a tropical storm but is expected to strengthen considerably once it makes it out into the gulf.

Peking Acrobats on the General Jackson

Last Saturday, Kennye and I rode the General Jackson with the Metzgers and the Boswells to see the Peking Acrobats perform. Kennye and I had seen the show before a couple of years ago, but wanted to see them again. This time, I had my camera with me.

Nice Asphalt

As most of you know, we moved into our new house about a year and a half ago. We’ve really enjoyed the new house and the location, but one little thing has persistently annoyed us: the road.
When we began to build the house, there was only a gravel road out front. We assumed that shortly after the house was finished, they’d come out and put down the first layer of asphalt. Boy, were we wrong.

Pregnancy Week 20 - Is it a Boy or a Girl?

Kennye and I went for our Week 20 ultrasound yesterday. This was just another routine ultrasound checkup except that we were far enough along to see the gender of the baby.
I think it will be fun to look back on this day, so I’m going to fluff up the exciting news with a few details.
