Nice Asphalt

As most of you know, we moved into our new house about a year and a half ago. We’ve really enjoyed the new house and the location, but one little thing has persistently annoyed us: the road.
When we began to build the house, there was only a gravel road out front. We assumed that shortly after the house was finished, they’d come out and put down the first layer of asphalt. Boy, were we wrong.
We waited for several months thinking that the developer was in the loop and that we would just have to wait our turn. After waiting for nearly a year, we began trying to call the developer, Wayne Belt. I tried calling him, calling his office, and going to his website (which listed email addresses that didn’t exist). After the lack of response and realizing their apparent lack of responsibility, we began to phone the city. Enter, Mr. Raymond!
Finally, something good to say! Contacting a person with Murfreesboro City who could help us was rather easy and, once we were in contact, we were able to get the problem resolved rather quickly. Mr. Raymond did some research, made a few phone calls, and issued a notice mandating that the road leading to our driveway must be paved within 15 days.
Last Thursday afternoon, I noticed that several large machines had been parked down the road past our house. It looked like they had even started to level our road, but it had come a pretty good downpour and rained them out for the day. A good sized puddle persisted on Friday, so the road crew wasn’t able to do much that day either.
Yesterday, as I was getting ready for work, I heard the sound of large machinery rumbling outside the house. As I looked out the window, a dump truck rolled by with what looked like a load of asphalt. Worried that I would be trapped by the machinery or recently poured asphalt, I threw some clothes on and rushed out of the house. When I returned home, I saw a beautiful sight; a nice patch of black asphalt covered the road in front of our house.
I’d like to thank Mr. Raymond with Murfreesboro City (Sorry, I don’t have his last name!) for all of his work and diligence. I’d also like to point out that even though working with Wayne Belt can be tiresome and frustrating, it’s been worth it. Salem Cove is a really nice place and is only beginning to realize the benefits of its location (We’re looking forward to the new Publix opening!).

What a GREAT thing! I’m so thrilled for ya’ll haha! You’ll have to have a cookout to celebrate the new road!!!!! Isn’t it funny how the small things mean so much? Love ya’ll!!
