Photography is an Expensive Hobby
June 27, 2008
If you guys are wondering what you’d like to get me for my next birthday, think “photography.” Until about two months ago, I had no idea this stuff was so expensive. I thought that once I had bought a nice camera, I was set. Boy, was I wrong.
Turns out that the camera body (camera minus the lens) is just the beginning. Now that understand a few things, I want a better flash ($), a nice lens or two ($$), and maybe one day the ability to use a flash off-camera ($$$). Oh, and I’ll need a way to carry all of this stuff around so I’ll need a good camera bag (which I just got, and love). Photography is expensive.

Baby Announcement Cookies
June 25, 2008
Last week, I decided to let everyone at work in on the big surprise. So Kennye and I called the local bakery and ordered two dozen cookies shaped like a Onesie; one dozen was blue and the other pink.
We picked up the cookies the day before heading to our scheduled doctor’s appointment last Friday morning. After seeing the doctor, (and skipping our Puffy Muffin ritual) I hit I-65 and headed towards work.

Madelyn’s Dance Recital 2008
June 19, 2008
Last Sunday afternoon, my little niece, Madelyn, had a dance recital in Nashville. Even though I was told that cameras were not allowed, I brought my new XTi to snap some pics. Now, I must warn you, I’m just beginning to understand how to properly use this thing, and it was pitch black in there… and I was nearly all the way at the back of the auditorium. So if you see a little blur here and there, those are my excuses.

Firefox 3 Will be Released Today
June 17, 2008
Just a quick heads-up… The latest version of Firefox, my most favorite web browser in the world, will be released today at around noon. It just so happens that I’ve written a post on GeekInspired.com for you guys to learn more about it.
So why should you kick Internet Explorer to the curb? Here’s a brief list of reasons:
- Firefox adheres more closely to web standards. This means web pages are displayed the way they were intended more consistently.
- Firefox allows tabbed browsing. You can keep several web pages open within one Firefox window. IE 7 attempts this, but somehow finds a way to make it annoying.
- Firefox is free.
A Quick Note About Comments
June 16, 2008
I just wanted to take a quick moment to thank you guys for leaving a few comments. You’re catching on! There’s just one little favor I’d ask of you.
The way the comments work on this site is that they are kept separate from other posts. That is, comments left about the latest ultrasound will appear on that post, and comments left on the other posts likewise. This way the comments on each post will be relative, and everyone else will even be able to comment on your comments.
Kennye was afraid that I would hurt someone’s feelings by pointing this out… and I certainly hope not. I encourage you to leave all the comments you want! Go ahead… practice a little on this page if you feel like it.
Geek Inspired - Your Computer and Photography Tutor
June 14, 2008
My buddy Bo Boswell and I have started to collectively work on a site, GeekInspired.com. We’ve had a lot of fun writing help articles for various things, mostly the things we know the most about: computers and photography. So far I’ve been heavy on the computer how-to stuff, and since Bo is fast up-and-coming photographer, he’s been focusing on the digital photography world.
We’ve only been at it for a few months, but things are going well so far. Both Bo and I have been mentioned on a couple of other sites and the traffic has been decent enough. We can only hope that this trend will continue! So if you have any computer or photography related questions, we hope you’ll check it out. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please send us an email. We’re always looking for things to write about.

A New Beginning
May 22, 2008
Well, I finally took the time to build a new Wordpress site for myself. There’s lots of tweaking to do, but I’d imagine i can get it done within a few weeks.
In the old model, every time I wanted to make some sort of update or post some pictures, I had to either edit the actual html pages or create an entirely new one. It was fun at first since it was something new (and I was eager to share the pictures of my house) but after a couple of months it began to be a real drag.
